Call in for a bite to eat and a coffee
(Formerly The Broadway Tearooms & Bakery) Our cafe and bakery have been part of Reefton since its beginnings. Opening in around 1874, it has served the miners and their families for over 130 years. Over the years, our recipes have been refined and passed down through the generations, and whether you have sweet tooth or a hearty appetite, our meals and treats are something that locals and visitors make room for.
Un-like many of today’s cafes, we avoid pre-mixed recipes like the plague. For an authentic taste, we refer back to our tried and true recipe book. And with quality ingredients and a bit of Reefton spirit we reckon we have something pretty special to boast about. I guess that’s why people call in on their way through town, or why the locals pop in for their daily bread.
To meet the demand, we have two full-time bakers and two part-time baker assistants who produce all our pies, pastries, cakes and slices, our well-known home-style shortbread, bread and buns. Yip, it's all baked here, everyday.
